The play “40 Seconds”, staged with the support of Malatya Governorship and Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism and prepared by Malatya Turgut Özal University Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (STMF) Performing Arts Department, met with the audience at the Congress and Culture Center on Saturday, April 19. On April 21, 2010, the impressive story of Yalçın Yedek, who was a veteran of the improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in Gediktepe district of Hakkari, witnessed emotional moments on the stage. The play was written by M. Akif Güzel and directed by STMF Department of Performing Arts Assistant Professor. Assist. Sündüz Adilak, the play featured a large cast including Can Zengin, Fatma Şahin, Filiz Kamış, M. Akif Güzel and Yalçın Yedek. Especially Malatya Veteran Yalçın Yedek, who both told his own story and took the stage in the play, received great applause from the audience. The production, whose assistant director was Sıla Çiçek and poster design was made by Enes Uluçay, offered a professional performance with its stage set-up, music and use of light. The play, which lasted about an hour and appealed to audiences over the age of 13, received full marks from the audience filling the theater. The play, which centers on a true story of heroism, was not limited to the narration of a military operation, but also shed light on the resilience of the human spirit, love for homeland and the meaning of sacrifice. At the end of the play, Malatya Veteran Yalçın Yedek was presented with flowers and the audience gave him a long standing ovation.
