Nursel Nisa Öztürk, a student at Malatya Turgut Özal University's Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture, Department of Painting, won the Exhibition Award in the “Body as Medium” project competition with her work titled “Landscape of Dead Bodies.”
“Landscape of Dead Bodies,” which addresses the marginalization of women in the social and existential spheres through a masculine language, presents striking scenes of a world where the female body is excluded, devalued, and made invisible, both physically and metaphorically. The artist also offers the viewer a critical perspective through a viewpoint that traces the traces of our individual loss.
What is “Body as Medium”?
“Body as Medium” is a physical and digital exhibition project. Aiming to give visibility to young artists by developing an experimental exhibition format, this project transforms accepted works and theoretical writings into a portable exhibition. Thus, it creates new areas of thought not only about the content of the works but also about the forms of exhibition and the function of exhibition spaces.
We congratulate our student and wish them continued success in their artistic journey.
