İrem Sür, a second-year student in the Painting Department of the Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture at Malatya Turgut Özal University, has won the Akbank Contemporary Artists Award for her work titled “Earth Blanket.”
In this work, İrem Sür draws inspiration from James Bridle's book “Forms of Being” to highlight the communication and synchronization that has existed between all elements of nature since their inception. Bridle's concept of a shared culture of life suggests that other worlds are possible through a network of interconnected beings. In this context, “Earth Blanket” stands out as a proposal that explores alternative paths for shared living by developing a new way of seeing within humanity's dystopian narrative.
We sincerely congratulate her and everyone involved in the project and wish them continued success.
