Malatya Turgut Özal University (MTÜ) Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (STMF) held an “End-of-Year Concert” event at the Kenan Işık Conference Hall. The concert, which took place on Thursday, May 15, at 1:30 p.m., was attended by STMF Dean Prof. Dr. Ersan Çiftci, Deputy Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ferdi Karaönçel, Head of the Department of Performing Arts Dr. Lecturer Tuna Taşdemir, Music Department faculty member Dr. Lecturer Olcay Korkmaz, Dr. Yasemin Keskin Yılmaz, faculty member of the Visual Communication Design Department, along with administrative staff and students.
The concert, organized by students of Dr. Olcay Korkmaz's Chamber Music and Piano class, began with Hulusi Onat (violin) and Ayşe Güven (piano) performing “Bülbülüm Altın Kafeste” (My Nightingale in a Golden Cage). It continued with “Spanish Dance” performed by Ramazan Kaya and Cemil Yapıcı. Miray Yağlıcı (soprano) and Ayşe Güven (piano) successfully performed Scarlatti's “Se Florindo e Fedele.” Baran Sarıgül (violin) and Ramazan Kaya's (piano) performance of “Iğdır'ın Al Alması” then gave the audience an emotional experience. Ramazan Kaya played M. Sun's “Yurt Renkleri Horonumsu” on solo piano, followed by Eyüp Çetinkaya (violin) and Selin Hasar (piano) performing Mozart's Sonata No. 304 in E minor. In the final segment of the event, Cemil Yapıcı and Aynur Şahin performed Schubert's “Alabalık” together. In the finale, Baran Sarıgül (violin) and Ramazan Kaya (piano) concluded the concert enthusiastically with O. Rieding's “Concertino in Hungarian Style.”
Artistic Director Dr. Olcay Korkmaz said the following about the concert: "This concert was the first solo concert in which our students performed individually. It was a moment in which they showcased the efforts they had put in over the past four years. That’s why we’re excited; because this was our first concert.” Emphasizing that the event was also an application of a course, Korkmaz added in his speech: “This was actually the outcome of a course. These concerts, held at the end of performance and instrument courses, are very valuable both in terms of artistic communication and students’ stage experience. Since it was a solo concert, the students took on all the responsibility. This was an educational experience for them. I congratulate all my students and wish our graduates success."
Ayşe Güven, a music department student who attracted attention with her successful performance at the piano during the concert, expressed her feelings with the following words: "Since childhood, the piano has been my greatest love and dream. I experience intense emotions and feelings when I play. If I was able to convey this to the audience, I am very happy. Of course, there are minor moments of excitement during the concert, but that's part of the charm. This is my biggest dream, and I aim to reach greater heights by continuing on this path. I hope even more beautiful things will come. Thank you very much for listening to me.” The concert left a lasting impression as a high-artistic-value event where the students’ dedicated efforts throughout the year were reflected on stage.
