Year-End Oil Painting Exhibition by STMF Painting Department Students

The “End-of-Year Oil Painting Exhibition” prepared by students of the Painting Department of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (STMF) at Malatya Turgut Özal University was opened to art lovers in the faculty foyer area between May 22 and 23, 2025.

The exhibition, which opened on Thursday, May 22, at 1:30 p.m., was curated by Lecturer Mustafa Olçum, and the opening program was attended by STMF Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ferdi Karaönçel, Head of the Painting Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Döndü Tülay Özkul, Painting Department faculty member Dr. Selcan Kalın, and Performing Arts Department faculty member Dr. Atakan Aslan, along with administrative staff and students.

Providing information about the exhibition, Lecturer Mustafa Olçum said, “We worked with our students for two semesters for our end-of-year exhibition. Each student produced work based on a theme they chose individually. The works that emerged were interpretations of traditional elements using contemporary artistic language and oil painting techniques.”

Yüsra Can, a second-year student in the Painting Department, commented on her work, saying, “Village life is a different and meaningful world for me. For this reason, I created a work focusing on local Anatolian women and tried to express my feelings in this way.”

The exhibition, which remained open for two days, contributed to the university's artistic environment as a reflection of the creative processes the students had undertaken throughout the year.
